Originating from the offshore oil and gas sector, OPITO develops innovative and robust training standards, qualifications, and initiatives, that ensure highly qualified personnel can meet the needs of the energy industry, including building capacity to support key technologies such as hydrogen, carbon capture, energy storage, wind and solar in the interests of the decarbonization agenda.

These standards are internationally recognised within the energy sector allowing qualified workers to engage across different companies and countries.

The Energy Skills Alliance is a cross-industry group led by OPITO, with a goal of identifying, inspiring and developing the skills needed to deliver a net-zero UK energy industry and all-energy workforce.

Alongside Energy Skills Alliance members, OPITO aims to deliver an all-energy career proposition, enabling workers to see a career path across the breadth of the energy industry. As the skills organisation for the sector, OPITO is proud to lead on the development of a People and Skills Plan.
